Diabetes and Obesity Risk in Children

Children born in the U.S. have a one in three chance of developing diabetes. The odds increase for African-American children, in whom two in five children will develop diabetes. In Latino children, half will develop diabetes.

Obesity in Children

During the past 30 years, obesity doubled in children age 2-5, and ages 12-19.

In children age 6-11, obesity rates have tripled.
